It's been busy...

Carroll and Brian and Beckett have returned home to Kansas and Carol and I are returning to normal.  Beckett, Brennan and Sydney can sure add a lot of energy to a house :-)

Grilling season is here.  Tim made steaks and veggies on the grill last night for Mother's Day.

Swimming season is here, the pool is open.

Back from Greece/Italy

Aboard the Louis Cristal
Standing on top of the ruins at Mycenae.
Eating Italian in Rome just down the street from the Trevi Fountain.

The Colisseum in Rome with no lions in it :-)

We hung around in Athens for a day and then hopped a cruise ship for three days on the Mediterranean Sea.  We arrived back in Athens and took a bus trip to Corinth and Mycenae.  We then flew to Rome and toured around the city for three days.  Carol is smiling because she had a blast!  We travelled with Pastor Mey from Faith-Viera Lutheran Church, Larry's mom, and 23 other folks from Faith-Viera.  We visited some places that Paul went to but I'm sure that he did not travel in such luxury as we did.

Going, going, gone...

Carol and Larry will be leaving Wednesday to visit Athens, Greece, the Greek Isles and Rome, Italy.  Carol is looking forward to finally getting to climb the Acropolis.  Larry just wants some good lasagna!  With Pastor Meyr leading us there won't be a dull moment but Judy will make sure that all of the details have been taken care of.  Just relax and ride the bus :-)

I like pulleys.

We bought a Weider X-Factor Plus.  It's an exercise machine with bungees and pulleys.  I like it.  I have been exercising three mornings a week (maybe 5 mornings soon) and I really like the pulleys.  Very smooth and comfortable feeling.  Not like standard weight machines.  I don't like all of the clanking associated with most weight machines.  It fits neatly in the corner of a room.

If you read about it on-line you'll see some complaints about assembling it.  I had a problem with the three steel bars that support the base pad.  They were too long.  I took my grinder to shorten them a bit and then the rest of it went together just fine.  I like the pulleys.

Scrooge

Carol and I watched the Alistair Sims version of "A Christmas Carol" last week.  We love the scenes from the morning after.  I like it when he says "I don't deserver to be this happy!".  Then laughs out loud.  We don't deserve God's good gifts and our salvation but he blesses us anyway.

A happy, prosperous and joyous new year to you!

Troop 720 Houseboat Trip

In June of 2010 Troop 720 sponsored a houseboat trip on the St. Johns River in Central Florida for the older Scouts.  We were on the river for a week in the houseboat that you see above.  We travelled about 120 miles on the river over seven days.  We visited Blue and Silver Glen Springs.  Ate a bunch of great food.  Goofed around in the water.  Wet a few lines and generally goofed off for a week.  We safely returned the boat and crew to Holly Bluff Marina on Thursday, July 1, 2010.  All in all, a great trip!
